The OIG takes aim at new technology payments, inpatient psych stays, and more
The 2006 Work Plan reveals that this year, the OIG plans to take a comprehensive look at dialysis costs and treatment and investigate several new billing-related issues.
New items on the Work Plan include payments for new technologies, inpatient psychiatric stays, and adjustments for graduate medical education payments.
Hospital compliance officers also found many old favorites in the 2006 Work Plan (e.g., organ acquisition costs, claims for coronary artery stents, and reporting of restraint-related deaths).
