As of December 15, the Hospital Quality Alliance has updated its consumer-oriented Web site for hospital quality information. The Hospital Compare site can be accessed at www.HospitalCompare.hhs.gov or at www.Medicare.gov. Hospital Compare displays information from over 4000 U.S. hospitals that voluntarily reported on the quality of care they provided adult patients in 2004 and 2005. The site reports on 20 measures of hospital quality of care in the areas of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and the prevention of surgical infections.
