A Houston doctor has been arrested in connection with an alleged $10 million power wheelchair scheme.
Linda Morgan, 52, was charged with conspiracy and 12 counts of healthcare fraud.
The indictment alleges freelance marketers and recruiters brought Medicare and Medicaid patient information-and not the patients-to Dr. Morgan.
In exchange for $250, she allegedly signed prescriptions for motorized wheelchairs. Then, according to the indictment, the marketers sold the prescriptions to durable medical companies. While Medicare and Medicaid were allegedly billed for the wheelchairs, patients received less expensive scooters.
