Audit outpatient cardiac rehab to verify compliance

Outpatient cardiac rehab areas must have a physician stationed nearby at all times-on-call code teams will not fulfill Medicare regulations.

If you are unsure about whether your facility meets this or other outpatient cardiac rehabilitation rules, you may want to investigate further. The OIG Work Plan has featured cardiac rehab annually since 2003. Still, many providers are confused when sorting through Medicare coverage rules.
