Ensure accurate charity application processing

Ensure that your facility consistently processes charity-care applications following its mission. Audit your facility's approved and denied charity applications to confirm the accuracy of the charity determinations and adjustments. Also audit payment plan accounts to identify missing opportunities to assist patients through charity processing. Use the charts on p. 11 of the PDF of this issue to assist you with this process.
Approved charity applications audit
To audit approved charity applications, select a random sample of 50-100 accounts processed within the most recent quarter. Alternatively, select a random sample equal to 20%-25% of all charity applications approved in the most recent quarter.
Using a worksheet, capture the following data about each account:
