Filling an open healthcare auditor position isn't easy.
Depending on the position, a candidate may need both a clinical and a financial background. A person with the right qualifications may require a higher salary than your facility can pay. What's more, the right candidate may be unwilling to move to your geographic region.
Trouble hiring auditors is nothing new for Beverly Galvez, system director of audit services for CHRISTUS Health in San Antonio. Her system has three open auditing positions at facilities in Texas and Louisiana. She recently filled a position that was open for more than a year. Galvez is seeking candidates who have both auditing and healthcare experience, but she has had little success. "I'm just having a hard time finding qualified applicants," she says.
