An effective infection control program is a critical component of patient safety and quality care. Although it is generally not a revenue producing program, the payoff for its effectiveness can be great and may include the following:
- Improved patient outcomes
- Decreased patient length of stay and corresponding costs
- Compliance with national recommendations and standards of practice, resulting in improved quality of care and defense against litigation
- Compliance with regulations and accreditation standards
- Enhanced teamwork and collaboration between departments
You can find this tip and others in the HCPro publication, Infection Control Compliance Guide: Understanding the JCAHO's Standards. For more information about this book or to order, call our customer service department at 800/650-6787 or click here.
