The nation's largest supplier of medical lab tests is under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department over "risk sharing" provisions in its contracts with government and private insurers, The New York Times reported June 7.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Quest Diagnostics said it is cooperating with Justice Department investigators who are examining company business practices between 1993 and 1999, the Times reported.

The Justice Department probe is focused on contracts that provided comprehensive testing services for a fixed, per-patient rate, the Times reported.
