GOV’T AUDIT INSIDER: Medicaid overpayments total $1.4 million in Nebraska

Nebraska's Department of Health and Human Services Finance and Support delayed reporting 448 Medicaid overpayments totaling $1.4 million from October 1, 2002 to September 30, 2003, according to an OIG audit report. Of that amount, Nebraska had not yet reported or returned 353 overpayments to the federal government, totaling $767,304. The OIG recommends that Nebraska return the federal share of overpayments as soon as possible and establish policies and procedures to ensure proper reporting.
