Joseph Yedid, a San Diego-based psychologist, was sentenced in federal court November 19 for submitting false claims to Medicare and obtaining more than $37,000, according to the U.S. attorney's office in San Diego.
Yedid was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine on top of what he illegally obtained from Medicare, and was sentenced to six months of home confinement, 250 hours of community service, and three years of supervised release.
Yedid admitted earlier this year he billed Medicare for psychotherapy sessions on dates when he was out of town. He also admitted that he billed for psychotherapy provided at a hospital on a date after the patient was discharged.
