CMS announced August 13 it will launch a new council to make sure Medicare beneficiaries have the best access possible to new medical treatments and technologies.
The Council on Technology and Innovation, made up of senior-level CMS leaders and experts on clinical, coverage, and payment issues, will create methods for developing practical information about the clinical benefits of new medical technologies resulting in faster and more efficient coverage and payment, according to an agency release.
The council replaces the existing Medicare Technology group. Herb Kuhn, director of the Center for Medicare Management, will serve as co-chairman and executive coordinator.
