Compliance officers' training efforts, greatest challenges, and top compliance goals are all highlighted in the Health Care Compliance Association's (HCCA) sixth annual survey, which it released at its annual conference in late April.
HCCA reported that 624 members completed the survey, about 20% of its membership.
Ninety-one percent of respondents conduct compliance training beyond initial training; 70% said they conduct annual training; and 50% said employees spend 1-3 hours in compliance training annually.
Compliance professionals' biggest concerns were monitoring and auditing (68%), keeping up with government regulations (63%), and assessing compliance program effectiveness (61%).
Their most important compliance goals were in line with their biggest concerns. They included monitoring and auditing, training staff, revising and adding policies and procedures, and handling effectiveness evaluations.
Eighty-five percent of respondents include conflict of interest and information security in their compliance programs.
