CMS issues technology assessment on electronic cardiac devices

On November 9, 2012, CMS issued a technology assessment on the systematic review of decision tools and their suitability for patient-centered decision making regarding electronic cardiac devices.

OIG issues review of outpatient billing for selected drugs in California (Oroville)

On November 8, the OIG issued a review which found that for 15 of the 18 line items reviewed, Oroville Hospital in Oroville, Calif., did not bill Medicare for injections of selected drugs in accordance with Federal requirements, resulting in overpayments totaling $190,000.

On November 8, the OIG issued a review which found that for the two line items reviewed, Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo, Calif., did not bill Medicare for injections of selected drugs in accordance with Federal requirements, resulting in overpayments totaling $181,000.

CMS issues press release on ACA impact on payments to primary care physicians

On November 2, CMS issued a press release in which HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that the final rule implementing the part of the healthcare law that delivers higher payments to primary care physicians serving Medicaid beneficiaries.
