CMS replaces transmittal on contractor and CWF additional instructions related to CR7633

On September 13, CMS replaced transmittal R2488CP, containing additional instructions for contractors and CWF if a claim is submitted by a provider for G0443 (Brief face-to-face behavioral counseling for alcohol misuse, 15 minutes) when there are no claims for G0442 (Annual alcohol misuse screening, 15 minutes) in claims history.

CMS issues special edition article on lightweight manual wheelchairs

On September 10, CMS issued a special edition MLN Matters article which provides a clarification of the quality standards and accreditation requirements for ultra lightweight manual wheelchairs.

CMS replaces transmittal on extracorporeal photopheresis (ICD-10)

On September 7, CMS replaced transmittal R2506CP, containing information on the coverage of extracorporeal photopheresis for the treatment of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) following lung allograft transplantation only when extracorporeal photopheresis is provided under a clinical research study that meets specific requirements to assess the effect of extracorporeal photopheresis for the treatment of BOS following lung allograft transplantation.

CMS issues 2013 annual update of HCPCS codes for SNF consolidated billing

On September 7, CMS issued a transmittal which contains changes to HCPCS codes and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule designations will be used to revise the CWF edits to allow A/B MACs, Carriers and FIs to make appropriate payments in accordance with policy for SNF CB in chapter 6, section 110.4.1 for Carriers/A/B MACs and chapter 6, section 20.6 for FIs/A/B MACs

CMS issues review of debarment list and processing of tie-in notices

On September 7, CMS issued a transmittal that focuses: (1) the contractors' review of the General Services Administration Excluded Parties List System (EPLS) as part of the provider enrollment verification process, and (2) the timeframe for processing tie-in notices and/or approval letters from CMS' regional offices (ROs).
