CMS issues administrative simplification final rule

On September 5, CMS issued in the Federal Register the final rule Administration Simplification: Adoption of a Standard for a Unique Health Plan Identifier; Addition to the National Provider Identifier Requirements; and a Change to the Compliance Date for ICD-10. The rule, among other changes, officially changes the ICD-10 compliance date to October 1, 2014.

CMS issues EHR incentive program – stage 2 final rule

On September 4, CMS issued in the Federal Register the final rule that specifies the stage 2 criteria that eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) must meet in order to qualify for Medicare and/or Medicaid electronic health record (EHR) incentive payments.
