CMS to hold MEDCAC meeting of management of heart failure with use of VADs

On August 2, CMS announced that it will convene a meeting on November 14, 2012 for the panel to review available evidence on the use of ventricular assist devices (VADs), a clinical strategy for the management of heart failure.

OIG issues Medicare compliance review of Boston hospital
 
On July 30, the OIG issued a Medicare compliance review of Boston Medical Center (Boston, Mass.) for calendar years 2009-2010, which found that of the 270 sampled claims, 132 had billing errors resulting in net overpayments totaling $1 million.
