On April 27, CMS issued a transmittal that extends the therapy cap exceptions process through December 31, 2012 and adds therapy services provided in outpatient hospital settings to the therapy cap effective October 1, 2012.

CMS issues transmittal on expansion of lab NCD edit software

On April 26, CMS issued a transmittal stating that the lab NCD edit software will be updated to accommodate the processing of ICD-10 diagnosis codes.

CMS issues transmittal on EHR incentive program
 
On April 26, CMS issued a transmittal that modifies the existing requirements of Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS) that are currently responsible for supplying the most up-to-date financial information and payment calculations for each hospital identified by the National Level Repository (NLR) as a meaningful user of EHR.

CMS issues transmittal on FISS system enhancement

On April 26, CMS issued a transmittal that implements an enhancement to the FISS furnish line level rendering physician/practitioner information to the CERT when billed on version 5010 of the 8371.

CMS issues transmittal on anesthesiologist services with modifier –GC in a Method II CAH

 On April 26, CMS issued a transmittal that implements the payment methodology for anesthesiology claims submitted with a GC modifier for CAH Method II providers.

CMS issues CY2012 OPPS payment adjustment for certain cancer hospitals

On April 26, CMS issued a transmittal which states that CMS has adopted a policy beginning in CY 2012 to provide additional payments 11 specific cancer hospitals so that each cancer hospital’s final payment to cost ratio (PCR) for services provided in a given calendar year is equal to the weighted average PCR for other hospitals paid under the OPPS.

CMS issues system update to include claim level referring physician data and insuring hospice certifying physician identifiers are fully processed

On April 26, CMS issued a transmittal that requires the Medicare standard systems to process the 2310F loop for all outpatient claims. However, this instruction only provides reporting requirements for hospice agencies and does not provide any new requirements for other outpatient claims.
