CMS issues Electronic Health Record Incentive Program—Stage 2 proposed rule

On February 23, CMS issued the display copy of the proposed rule or Stage 2 requirements for the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs. The Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs will consist of three different stages of meaningful use requirements, with each stage requiring increasing use of EHRs and electronic information exchange.

CMS increases the maximum contingency fee paid to recovery auditors 

On February 24, CMS issued a notice in the Federal Register, to inform states that Medicare has increased the maximum contingency fee paid to Recovery Auditors by 5% for the recovery of durable medical equipment claims overpayments.

CMS implements provisions to provide greater transparency for demonstration projects

On February 27, CMS issued a final rule in the Federal Register that will increase the degree to which information about Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program demonstration applications and approved demonstration projects is publicly available and promote greater transparency in the review and approval of demonstrations.
