CMS provides updates on a quarterly basis during the calendar year to reflect changes to, and billing instructions for, hospital outpatient services covered under the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS). In its October 2011 OPPS quarterly update (R2296CP), CMS announced that it has established two new device categories for transitional pass-through payment, effective for dates of service on and after October 1, 2011.
