This week CMS released a special edition MLN Matters article reviewing the coverage of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) concurrent with carotid artery stenting. The MLN discusses current coverage of the procedure for patients at high risk for adverse events from carotid endarterectomy and the effect of a device (RX Acculink carotid stent) newly approved for patients not at high risk.
