CMS clarifies on CRNA pass-through payments
On May 20, CMS issued a transmittal to provide further clarification regarding certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) pass-through payments. Effective with dates of service on or after December 2, 2010, CMS instructed contractors to note that in addition to hospitals and CAHs that are rural for PPS purposes, hospitals and CAHs that are reclassified as rural under the regulations at 42 CFR 412.103 are also eligible for CRNA pass-through if they meet the other CRNA pass-through qualifications.
Effective date: December 2, 2010
Implementation date: October 3, 2011
CMS makes IPF PPS update
On May 20, CMS issued a transmittal to make annual updates to the inpatient psychiatric facility prospective payment system (IPF PPS).
Effective date: July 1, 2011
