CMS clarifies pharmacy billing
On May 13, CMS issued a transmittal to clarify policy with respect to restrictions on pharmacy billing for drugs provided incident to a physician service.

On May 13, CMS issued a transmittal with its regular instructions to contractors on the quarterly NCCI update.
Effective date: July 1, 2011

CMS finalizes necessary changes for extended occurrence span codes
On May 13, CMS issued a transmittal to make final systems changes needed to allow a claim to span a benefit period over ten years.
Effective date: October 1, 2002
Implementation date: October 3, 2011 (coding); January 3, 2012 (coding and implementation)
