CMS issues quarterly NCCI update
CMS has released the quarterly update to the NCCI edits, up to v. 17.0 for hospital outpatient services and v. 17.1 for physician services. MedicareFind subscribers can access the new edits via the NCCI Edit Lookup Tool.

CMS releases HAC data
CMS has posted data on the following eight hospital-acquired conditions (HAC) on the Hospital Compare website:
- Foreign object retained after surgery
- Air embolism
- Blood incompatibility
- Pressure ulcer stages III and IV
- Falls and trauma
- Vascular catheter-associated infection
- Catheter-associated urinary tract infection
- Manifestations of poor glycemic control
CMS posts preventive services fact sheets
CMS has issued three fact sheets to explain proper billing of preventive services under Medicare, including the initial preventive physical examination (often known as the “Welcome to Medicare” visit) and annual wellness visit.
