CMS has issued a final rule to implement provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that establish screening procedures for providers and suppliers. The rule also discusses compliance plan requirements for providers and suppliers.
CMS issued a series of question and answers in the FAQ section of its website regarding enrollment screening procedures:
- What are these risk levels or screening categories?
- Which categories of providers are in which level of screening?
- What impact will these categories have on providers?
- Will the entities in each category stay the same?
- Why is CMS making these screening categories?
- When will the provider screening categories be implemented?
- How can I get more information on these new policies?
