CMS issues OPPS updates
On December 30, CMS issued two transmittals to implement updates to the OPPS for 2011. Changes include new language to implement revisions to the physician supervision requirements under “incident to,” APC changes, and new guidance for hospitals reporting critical care services.
Effective date: January 1, 2011
Implementation date: January 3, 2011

CMS posts change request definitions
On January 7, CMS posted a transmittal to introduce manual language that defines various dates in relation to change requests/transmittals – such as effective date, implementation date, and issue date.
