Last week, it was announced that critical access hospitals (CAHs) will be able to add a little PEPPER to spice up the New Year. This is good news for CAHs since they do not have any comparison tools that are readily available to help identify trends and patterns in coding, compliance and documentation. Let’s take a look at what PEPPER is - otherwise known as the Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report - and how this tool will be useful for CAHs.
