CMS issues flu vaccine transmittal
On October 22, CMS issued a transmittal to provide updated payment allowances for seasonal influenza virus vaccines.
Effective date: September 1, 2010

CMS updates HCPCS-TOS crosswalk
On October 22, CMS issued a transmittal to update for 2011 the crosswalk linking HCPCS codes and type-of-service (TOS) indicators. The TOS indicator is mainly used for data purposes but does affect payment in some instances.
Effective date: January 1, 2011
Implementation date: January 3, 2011
CMS updates overpayment/underpayment interest rate
On October 18, CMS issued a transmittal to instruct contractors to implement an interest rate of 10.75% effective October 22, 2010, for Medicare overpayments and underpayments.

CMS updates clotting factor furnishing fee
On October 15, CMS issued a transmittal to implement the annual update to the clotting factor furnishing fee. For 2011, the clotting factor furnishing fee of $0.176 per unit is included in the published payment limit for clotting factors and shall be added to the payment for a clotting factor when no payment limit for the clotting factor is published either on the average-sales-price (ASP) or not-otherwise-classified (NOC) drug pricing files.
