CMS issues special article on seasonal flu resources
On October 6, CMS posted a special MLN Matters article directing providers to available resources on the seasonal flu, including coverage and billing information.

CMS updates drug HCPCS hook and hold
On October 1, CMS issued a transmittal to maintain and update the hook and hold mechanism that holds OPPS claims containing particular drug HCPCS codes.
Effective date: January 1, 2011
Implementation date: January 3, 2011
CMS replaces transmittals
CMS rescinded and replaced several transmittals previously outlined in Medicare Weekly Update.
- Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), Long Term Care Hospital (LTCH) PPS, and Inpatient Psychiatric Facility (IPF) PPS Changes
- October 2010 Update of the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS)
- Allow Zoned Program Integrity Contractors (ZPICs) to Access Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) by ZPIC Zone
