HHS releases HIPAA-HITECH changes
On July 8, HHS posted a display copy of a proposed rule to modify HIPAA privacy, security, and enforcement, pursuant to the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH). Among other changes, the rule would extend HIPAA compliance requirements to subcontractors of business associates and strengthen patients’ rights to health information privacy.

CMS posts OPPS proposed rule, correction
On July 2, CMS posted a display copy of the 2011 OPPS proposed rule (CMS-1504-P). Among other proposals, the rule would further clarify and revise physician supervision requirements under the “incident to” benefit. CMS also released a display copy of a correction to the 2010 OPPS.
