CMS displays IPPS changes under PPACA
On May 21, CMS issued display copies of two Federal Register entries that would make changes to the IPPS pursuant to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). The first updates various provisions of the fiscal year (FY) 2010 IPPS, including a -0.25% market basket update. The second includes proposed changes to the FY 2011 IPPS, including a similar -0.25% market basket update.

CMS proposes changes to hospital/CAH CoPs
On May 21, CMS posted a display copy of a proposed rule that would make changes to the conditions of participation (CoP) for hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAH). The proposed changes would allow for a new credentialing and privileging process for physicians and practitioners providing telemedicine services.
