CMS instructs on reasonable cost payment for hospitals with 50 beds or less
On April 1, CMS issued a transmittal to implement extended reasonable cost payments for clinical lab tests performed by hospitals with fewer than 50 beds in qualified rural areas as part of their outpatient services.
Effective date: For cost reporting periods beginning on or after July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011
Implementation date: June 30, 2011
CMS updates medical conditions list
On April 2, CMS issued a transmittal updating the Ambulance Fee Schedule Medical Conditions List and Medicare Claims Processing Manual by improving upon previous transmittals released in 2007.
Effective date: May 3, 2010
Implementation date: May 3, 2010
CMS directs stakeholders on HIPAA’s 5010/D.0 second phase
On April 2, CMS issued a transmittal providing instructions to numerous stakeholders on HIPAA’s second phase of the 5010/D.0 Project.
Effective date: July 1, 2010
Implementation date: July 6, 2010
CMS replaces transmittal
CMS rescinded and replaced one transmittal previously outlined in Medicare Weekly Update.
