Note: Rural Open Door Forum addresses provider concerns with physician supervision

Last Tuesday, March 9, CMS hosted the Rural Health Open Door Forum for rural providers in which they discussed physician supervision and invited CMS central office policy staff to discuss the rules with providers. In addition to the normal question and answer session, a major portion of the time was devoted to feedback and comments from providers. Although the call addressed rural providers and their concerns with meeting the provisions as amended this year, I believe that the issues addressed were applicable to all hospital providers struggling with supervision. I would encourage hospitals that normally listen to the more general Hospital Open Door Forum to sign up and listen to the Rural Health Open Door Forum for the next few calls, as CMS continues to address the supervision issue.
