Boston man embezzles more than $1M from medical center

Richard P. Webb of Boston pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to embezzling more than $1 million from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.

Webb, 42, worked as a practice assistant in the ear, nose, and throat department at Beth Israel where he stole checks written to the department and obtained fraudulent refunds for hearing aids and other items by forging signatures, according to the DOJ.

Webb faces 42 months in prison and a restitution and forfeiture of more than $1 million.
