A Florida man faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine if found guilty of defrauding the Medicaid program of more than $76,000 while running a sham home health agency, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.
Juan Blandy, 59, allegedly paid thousands of dollars in kickbacks to case managers so they would refer Medicare patients to his business, Supreme Home Health Care Agency, Inc. According to the DOJ, Blandy promised Medicaid patients personal service and assistance, but never provided those services.
Florida police arrested the case managers involved and are currently on probation.
