Note: Point of Origin codes revised and deleted

CMS issued Transmittal R1917CP implementing the deletion and revision of certain Point of Origin for Admission or Visit Codes (formerly Source of Admission Codes) as adopted by the National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) effective July 1, 2010. The Point of Origin code is required on hospital inpatient and outpatient claims for diagnostic testing and identifies the source of referral for the admission or visit.
