CMS updates OPPS
On December 11, CMS issued two transmittals to incorporate OPPS updates into the Benefit Policy Manual and Claims Processing Manual.
Effective date: January 1, 2010
Implementation date: January 4, 2010

CMS updates previous ZPIC transmittal
On December 11, CMS rescinded and replaced its previous transmittal regarding zone program integrity contractor (ZPIC) access to Medicare administrative contractor data.
Effective date: April 1, 2010, for contractors using MCS and FISS shared systems; and July 1, 2010, for contractors using the VMS shared system.
CMS issues 5010 transmittal for J12
On December 11, CMS issued a transmittal regarding 5010 implementation in Jurisdiction 12 (J12).
Effective date: March 1, 2010
