OIG reviews oxaliplatin billing

On November 13, the OIG posted a report on oxaliplatin billing at Swedish Medical Center – First Hill for CYs 2004 and 2005. The OIG determined that First Hill billed Medicare for an incorrect number of service units for the 12 oxaliplatin outpatient claims reviewed and received overpayments totaling approximately $311,000.

OIG issues DSH-related reviews

The OIG released two reviews of the use of incorrect geographic classifications by contractors when calculating Medicare operating disproportionate share hospital (DSH) adjustments. This resulted in overpayments to at least two hospitals.
