Update: UNC breach makes organizations wary

A North Carolina radiology group, Wake ¬Radiology, withdrew from the Carolina Mammography ¬Registry (CMR) as the result of a patient privacy breach at the University of North Carolina (UNC) in September. Wake Radiology officials say that because of the breach, they will opt out of any studies that require the group to share personal patient information. “Involvement in future studies will be limited to anonymous, unidentified data,” officials said in a public statement.
