The annual flu season officially began October 3,
but in reality, last year’s flu season never really came
to an end.
H1N1 flu virus circulated all summer, and many laboratories had already seen an increase in case volume prior to October, says Rosemary Humes, MS, MT(ASCP), SM, senior advisor of scientific affairs at the Association of Public Health Laboratories in Silver Spring, MD.
