HHS released an interim final rule in August outlining how covered entities should report breaches of protected health information (PHI) and encrypt and destroy patient records to prevent lapses from occurring.
The interim final rule contains several changes from the proposed rule published in April, says Joan Antokol, partner at Baker & Daniels in Indianapolis.
