On September 10, Connolly Healthcare, the Region C RAC contractor, updated its list of approved audit issues.

OIG issues report on high-dollar claims

On August 26, the OIG issued a report on high-dollar claims paid by CareFirst of Maryland, previously a Medicare fiscal intermediary. The OIG found that, between January 1, 2003, and September 30, 2005, CareFirst overpaid $1.2 million for 24 high-dollar payments it made for hospital outpatient claims in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

OIG audits oxaliplatin billing

On August 27, the OIG issued a report on oxaliplatin billing at University Hospital in 2005. The OIG found that, for the four claims it reviewed, University Hospital billed for 10 times the number of units of oxaliplatin that were actually administered, and received overpayments totaling $118,000.
