A new crop of CMS contractors might make your billing life more challenging in the near future. CMS is in the process of replacing its Program Safeguard Contractors (PSC) with seven regional Zone Program Integrity Contractors, or ZPICs. It’s the job of these new contractors to scrutinize Medicare and Medicaid claims, looking for fraud or billing errors using sophisticated auditing techniques.
