Ensure the transfer of lab results after patient discharge

One instance, highlighted in the July Laboratory Compliance Insider, involved a patient who had already been discharged when a blood culture came back positive indicating a catheter-associated heart infection. But the test result went to the physician who cared for the patient in the hospital and not to his new cardiologist. The patient died from the infection.
