The MedicareFind engine is a powerful tool that enables you to access relevant source documents easily and intuitively. An important reason why it is able to produce relevant results is the MedicareFind thesaurus. This is an index of important terms and acronyms used in the area of healthcare compliance and reimbursement, and it helps ensure that your phrases generate the most relevant results possible.
For example, the thesaurus recognizes that “72 hour rule” is the same thing that CMS sometimes calls the “three day payment window,” so it enables us to provide those documents that mention “three day payment window” even though they don’t mention “72 hour rule.” This is called query expansion; when you perform a FIND and your query has been expanded by the MedicareFind thesaurus, the phrase “Your query has been expanded” will appear underneath the search bar on the results page.
