Compliance professionals need to ensure that policies and procedures are in place to prevent HACs and never events. Fortunately, statistics show that never events are rare occurrences and are generally caught before it is too late. How ever rare never events and HACs might be, compliance professionals need to be diligent with prevention, as well as education, for staff members. The compliance department should offer guidance regarding POA indicators and HACs.
