Missouri podiatrist pleads guilty to creating fake medical records

Bic Chau Stafford MD, of St. Louis, pleaded guilty to federal charges of obstructing a federal audit according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch article.
 
In 2007 a Medicare contractor discovered Stafford had been overpaid $6,840, according to the article. Stafford then appealed the finding and supported her appeal by creating phony treatment records.
 
Stafford faces 10 to 16 months in prison and a fine of $25,000, according to the article.
