CMS issues instructions on Medicare beneficiary days related to DSH calculation
On March 6, CMS issued a transmittal in which it instructed hospitals submit data on their FY 2006 Medicare Advantage days so that these days may be included in the MedPAR file and be counted in the Medicare fraction of the DSH calculation.
Effective date: Discharges on or after October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006
Implementation date: July 6, 2009
CMS rescinds and replaces previous RAC transmittal
On March 6, CMS issued a transmittal rescinding and replacing a previous instruction regarding how Medicare contractors should coordinate with the recovery audit contractors (RAC).
Effective date: March 13, 2009

CMS implements requirements for disclosure of physician ownership in hospitals
On March 6, CMS issued a transmittal implementing requirements it made in the FY 2008 and 2009 IPPS regulations regarding disclosure of physician ownership in hospitals.
