Study: Interpreting digital exams takes more time

Radiologists take longer to interpret digital mammograms even after facilities take steps to improve efficiency, a new study says. Although some steps, such as having support staff members hang films, may reduce the difference in interpretation times between the digital and film mammograms, digital interpretation will likely take at least twice as long, according to the study, “Timed Efficiency of Interpretation of Digital and Film-Screen Screening Mammograms,” published in the January American Journal of Roentgenology.
