Laboratories this year will see a continued focus on proficiency testing (PT) referrals, stepped-up efforts to root out fraud and abuse, and new guidelines for genetic testing quality and compliance.

Also on tap for 2009 is greater scrutiny of discounting arrangements, a heightened focus on HIPAA compliance, and revised ABN forms.
