Genomics-based technologies are front-page news in the mainstream media, thanks to companies offering commercial individual genome sequencing. Other genomics-era technologies, including microarray-based genetic tests, are also working their way into the clinic, requiring growing numbers of laboratory administrators in a wide spectrum of hospitals to handle samples for transport to outside labs.
